Pakistan seeks French cooperation in advanced surgical technology


Strasbourg, France, 15th Feb, 2017. Pakistan is interested in learning and adopting the advanced techniques in the field of surgery and laparoscopy.

This was stated by the Ambassador of Pakistan Moin ul Haque during his meeting with Prof. Jacques Marescaux, Founder and President of the IRCAD (Institute for Research on Cancers of the Digestive Tract) in the French city of Strasbourg yesterday.

The Ambassador visited various parts of the state of art IRCAD institute and expressed his keen interest in the research facilities provided by the institute in the field of minimal access surgery, flexible interventional endoscopy and robotic surgical techniques.

Prof. Jacques Marescaux and his team gave a detailed presentation to the Ambassador about the IRCAD. During the meeting possibilities for forging institutional cooperation between IRCAD and Pakistan’s leading medical facilities, training of Pakistani surgeons and research collaboration were also discussed.

Founded in 1992, IRCAD has now become a center of excellence in minimal access surgery, and organizes courses in flexible interventional endoscopy with robotic surgical techniques. Every year more than 5,000 surgeons from around the world are trained by IRCAD.

Later in the evening, the Ambassador met with Pakistani medical professionals pursuing their Phd studies at the University of Strasbourg under HEC program. The Ambassador appreciated the exemplary conduct of Pakistani Doctors and urged them to fully benefit from the excellent academic and research facilities in their university which would help them to use this knowledge for strengthening health sector of Pakistan on their return.

Kashmir Solidarity Day Observed in France

Paris, February 11, 2017 – Embassy of Pakistan and the Pakistani and Kashmiri Community in France observed Kashmir Solidarity Day in Paris today.

Members of Pakistani and Kashmiri community, French parliamentarian and media persons attended the event to express their solidarity with the people of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The Ambassador of Pakistan to France Moin ul Haque in his address said that the Kashmir Solidarity day is observed to reaffirm our moral, diplomatic and political support to the legitimate struggle of the Kashmiri people for their basic human rights, especially their right to self-determination enshrined in the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

He appealed to the international community to take notice of the decades long pain and sufferings of the innocent people of Kashmir and the grave human rights violations being committed by the Indian security forces. He said that the resolution of Kashmir dispute in accordance with the UNSC resolution would pave the way for lasting peace and stability in South Asia.

Mr. Francois Pupponi, the French Parliamentarian and President of France-Pakistan Friendship Group in the French National Assembly in his address said that resolution of Kashmir dispute is a key to prosperity in South Asia. Underlining the socio-economic and humanitarian dimension of Kashmir dispute, he called upon India and Pakistan to resolve the issue through peaceful dialogue.

Notables of Pakistani and Kashmiri community in Paris speaking on the occasion also highlighted the human rights violations and demanded immediate resolution of long outstanding Kashmir dispute in accordance with the United Nation Security Council resolutions.

Messages of the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan on the occasion of the Kashmir Solidarity Day were also read out.

WHO IS THE WORLD’S LEAD HEALTH AGENCY. DR. SANIA NISHTAR

 

Paris, 10 February, 2017. “World Health Organization (WHO) is the world’s only universal membership multilateral agency. It’s role has never been more important than it is now as it has the potential to address some of the challenges which threaten to wipe out the development gains of the last century; challenges such as emerging and re-emerging infections, antibiotic resistance and non-communicable diseases. The agency, needs to reclaims its primacy, earn the world’s trust as its lead health agency; and should have the ability to coordinate and lead partnerships to achieve universal attainment of the highest possible level of health and well-being for the people of the world”

 

This was stated by Dr. Sania Nishtar, a Pakistani physician and Pakistan’s former Federal Minister of the Government of Pakistan and a nominee for the slot of Director General, WHO, while making her opening remarks while speaking at an event titled “Meeting with the Candidates for WHO Director General”, organized by Science Po of France in Paris, today.

 

Dr. Jean-Marie Le Guen, Minister of State for Development and Francophone of France, Faculty and students of Science Po, intellectuals and health scientists attended the function in large number.

 

Dr. Sania said that if given the chance to lead WHO she would institutionalize meaningful transparency and accountability; will lead impartially and will focus WHO on its core and exclusive mandates.

 

She said that as a Director-General, she will strive to ensure that WHO is effective, well-managed, transparent, accountable and a cohesive organization, which achieves value for money, is results driven and where robust evidence guides decision-making.

 

Dr. Sania said that it is imperative to step up WHO’s institutional capacity to detect, lead, manage and coordinate the response to outbreaks and emergencies.

 

She emphasized that WHO’s operational readiness to respond to emergencies is critical and that it is necessary for it to provide countries with country relevant technical support to achieve the SDGs.

 

Dr. Sania Nishtar of Pakistan is amongst the three candidates shortlisted for the highest post at the World Health Organization (WHO). The other candidates on the run are Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus of Ethopia and Dr David Nabarro of UK.

 

These candidates will run in an election in May 2017, and will campaign to get as many of WHO’s 194 member states as possible on their side.

Embassy holds Reception to Honour French Men and Women Cricket Teams

 

Paris, 31st January, 2017.        Pakistan will continue to support the promotion of the game of cricket in France.

 

This was stated by the Ambassador of Pakistan to France Mr. Moin ul Haque during a reception hosted at the Embassy for the France National Men and Women Cricket Teams and winner team of Jinnah Champions Trophy in Paris, today.

 

The reception which was jointly organized by the Embassy of Pakistan and Embassy of Sri Lanka was attended by the members of French Men and Women National Cricket Teams, Mayor of the city of Druze, President France Cricket and Chief Selector France Cricket. Ambassadors from the cricket playing nations, senior officials from the French Ministry of Sports and media.

 

Speaking on the occasion, the Ambassador said that successful holding of Pakistan sponsored two editions of Jinnah Champions Trophy in 2015 and 2016, has helped in promoting the game of the Cricket in France which is becoming increasingly popular amongst the local youth. Pakistan’s assured cricket France for continued support and sponsoring of Jinnah Trophy in France.

 

Jinnah Champions Trophy being sponsored by Pakistan Embassy for the last two years is currently the most prestigious cricket tournament in the cricket circuit of France.

Chairman OPF Board of Governors meet notables of Pakistani Community in Paris

Paris 27.01.2017. The Government has given a renewed mandate to Board of Governors of Overseas Pakistanis foundation by bringing new reforms and taking practical steps aimed at overall welfare of thecommunity through their active involvement and participation.

This stated by Barrister Amjad Malik, the Manchester based Chairman of Board of governors of OverseasPakistani foundation (OPF) while taking to the Pakistani Community of Paris, and Paris based PakistaniMedia, in embassy of Pakistan, during his day long visit to Paris, today. Ambassador of Pakistan to France Moin ul Haque was also present on the occasion.

Barrister Malik briefed the community in detail about the newly constituted OPF Board of Governors, its mandate and future projects.

He said that OPF has been reactivated to provide fast and effective services to the Oversees Pakistanis. A new state of the art online Complaints Management System has been introduced, facilitation desks at all International Airports have been established and financial aid to the destitute families have been increased.

He appreciating the important role played by the Pakistani community for promoting the positive image of Pakistan and their contributions in the socio economic development of the country by way of sending substantial remittances to Pakistan.

During the meeting, the community members provided useful suggestions which would help government to further improve the services and take new initiatives to be announced at Overseas Pakistanis Convention to be held late this year.

The Barrister Amjad Malik also visited the councilor section of the Embassy and expressed his satisfaction over high quality of Public Service delivery and facilities being provided to the applicant/visitors, including separate counters for various services, photograph machine, electronic data capturing and refreshment point. He also appreciated the professional and courteous behavior of the staff in the consular section

Mayor of Avon Called on H.E. Mr. Moin ul Haque

Paris 19 December 2016: Madam Marie Chaorlotte Nouhaud the Mayor of Avon and Mr. Etienne Baltaille, Cultural Attache of Avon (a city of France near Paris) called on the Ambassador of Pakistan to France Moin ul Haque in the Embassy of Pakistan in Paris, today.

The Ambassador said that Embassy of Pakistan to France will fully support and help the Avon Town Hall in its plan to celebrating Independence Day of Pakistan-2017 in the most befitting manner.

He appreciated the idea of the Town Hall and said that this event will provide Pakistan with an opportunity to showcase Pakistan’s rich social and cultural values and progress and development which are currently taking place in Pakistan.

The Mayor informed the Ambassador that Town Hall (Mairie) of Avon has planned to celebrate upcoming Independence Day of Pakistan in September, 2017.

She said that in this regard Town hall plans to setup authentic Pakistani food stalls, Cultural shows, music concert, photo and calligraphic exhibitions, Pakistani Film shows and other such cultural activities.

She said that the purpose to organize such event is to inform educate the people of Avon City  about the cultural, social and historical richness of Pakistan and its people and about the progress and development that are taking place in Pakistan

The Ambassador also accepted the invitation of the Mayor to visit Avon to further fine-tune the proposal.
